About Amazon Turtle Lodge

The lodge is located on the Margin of the Lake Tracajá, about 100km south east of Manaus. Arrival from Manaus takes approximately two hours and fifty minutes of traveling done in three parts. The first part of the journey is twenty minute trip from the river port ("Ceasa to Careiro") than by speedboat, where you'll have the opportunity to see the meeting of the Rio Negro and Solimões Rivers (meeting of the waters); the point where the Amazon River begins. This is a perfect opportunity to see the grandeur of both rivers and take photos of the distinct line formed by the two rivers as they run side by side not mixing for many kilometers.

Next is a forty minute ride down the Manaus-Porto Velho highway by car, where you will have the chance to see many exotic flora and fauna, such as kingfishers, egrets, jacarés (caimans) and water lilies.

The final part, which takes forty five minutes, is by boat traveling on the Mamori River until your final destination is the Lake Tracajá to AMAZON TURTLE LODGE. You'll see many creeks full of wildlife, and depending on the time of year you may get to experience the igapó (flooded forest). This trip is also nice for bird watching. You should be able to enjoy the sight of many pink or grey river dolphins feeding and playing right in front of the lodge through out your stay. In addition to the incredible landscapes and breath taking sunsets, you'll be able to appreciate one of the richest areas of biodiversity on the planet and rest in the knowledge that we will provide you.
